A year ago today we headed off on a short road trip to Narooma via Captains Flat and Araluen. We decided to take this route rather than the conventional route from Queanbeyan to Bateman's Bay then up the coast to Narooma because we'd heard that this trip would be amazingly scenic.
We got to Araluen by mid morning and drove around the area for an hour or so taking photos and looking for the road down to Moruya but we were told by the locals that we wouldn't be able to access the road as there had been a landslide and all travel down through the Deua River Valley had been closed.
So we had no alternative but to turn back and go through to Braidwood and go the conventional way down the coast.

On our way out of Araluen, we decided to stop and have one last look at the Araluen Valley from the mountain side we were travelling and this is where I took my last shot of the Valley, I'm so glad we did!
Hopefully we'll return this year and and get through the Deua Valley River down to Moruya/Narooma.
